I didn't know that Tabou turned down an invitation to Africa.......what a stupid move on their part.
You should pick up some of the new generation Konpa
I'm sure you'd like Zin, K'dans, Phantom, Zenglen,
Djakout Mizik.........the list goes on.
I've been telling a lot of my friends that these Haitian artist need to go to Africa.
I know Africans would love it.
I went to an African concert in DC to see Kofi Alumade....I'm not sure if you know him.....but I'll loved it. The crowd was awesome. I felt right at home.
I knew this African guy from the Ivory Coast who love Coupe. He said they idolized him in his country.
Don't worry, I'm going to state the idea to a few bands when I go to their concerts and see what they think.
This movement is long over due.
Africa would love Sweet Mickey.
You should check him out too. He's one of my all time favorites.
:Ship kompa to Africa and Africa will never be the same: Hi everyone. Happy new year,Happy Bicen Haiti Cheri. I wish to confice from the word go "I m haitian.I m from an East african country and English is our offical dialiect. We dont speak or write french. Interestingly thuo and very fountunetly I love kompa music very much I will also state further kompa music very unic african kind of music. I happen to stool upon the only copy of COUPE-CLOUE cd a couple of years ago at a HMV store and life has never been same. All I listen to is kompa music 24/7.At times its very hard to coprehend and words alone cant not tell how whupted I became.Needless to say 'Kompa is complex and imperfect-thrown together for the purpose of accomplishing a certain goal.I have became a victim. Something was quite famliar once I brought the coupe-cloue cd at home to listen to.I imedately at once realized that in the days ahead I had to get more copies so as to be certain what I was listening to wast a coincendence. A week after I again stopped at the same HMY to inquire more about kompa music unfountunety they had non instock but upon inquiring further they assured me more re-stock all I had to do is leave my phone number they I'II inform about the progress. The HMV indeed did call me a week later and went there and bought more kompa music.[Tabu-combo,skah shah,Orch.sent'l,Orch. tropical d'haiti]ect, ect. It became I reality once I listened to those above mentioned cds and read books about haiti. The mystery was solved and it was no longer a coincidence to me any more.. Kompa music is diedly. [I stopped buying tabu-combo music after he was offically invaited to africa and equv'cally he said...NOP.] To be continued..!
