This weekend HK witnessed two seperate violent outbursts at Club Crystal (Queens) and Senegal (Brooklyn). My collegues and I, as well as avid party goers are disgusted. While this is not a new problem, it is one that has gone unaddressed for far too long. As a result many promoters have lost the ability to book many halls and clubs. Club violence is hurting everyone from the bands to the partygoers. But who is truly to blame? This is a three pronged issue that requires, the club and its security, its patrons and the promoters to just be responsible. While many clubs are doing a good job in searching their patrons, many are failing to check IDs and enforce the dress code. Wether they realize it or not, this has alot to do with the violence. People who are not dressed appropiately are likely to act inappropritely. Why aren't the promoters puting pressure on the clubs to enforce regulations. For that matter why aren't the promoters forcing bands to end and begin on time? What ever happened to no jeans, no sneakers, no Tims? I for one am tired of paying any where from $25-$45 to enter a party, where people have not even made an effort to remove their do-rags, jackets and bandas. The band members who we are paying to see, don't even show us the respect of dressing appropriately. We all remember the impact King Kino's Phantom had, when they first, bursted on to the seen, with their flashy costuming. It was something that added to the show. We don't even get color coordination anymore. ZIN, step it up!!!!!And for god's sake, if you are not in the band, stay the hell of the stage!!!!!!! Watching the show from the dance floor keeps everyone safer. PLEASE! COME IN PEACE OR DON'T COME AT ALL!!!!
