I can see that you are a positive and well rounded person. I wish all Haitian think like you.  IF you need to talk to Haitian musicians, you have to adress them in a way they can understand you. I know the majority of them cannot' read above 8yh grade level. i am not certain, they will understand your point

What were those famous quotes by Dr. King again? Oh those "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"One day we must come to see that peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but that it is a means by which we arrive at that goal. We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"Without love, benevolence becomes egotism" Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ooops I should be ashamed of myself for been so absentminded.  My friend to help understand the concept we must conclude it by what President Kennedy said: “ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.”

Let' agree to disagree for one minute. Frist, i am not new in the Haitian community. My poist was exactly what you mention in your reply. Haitian artist sings about all kinds of rhetoric’s about Haiti, mostly to sell records.  They don't really care about Haiti as long as they can eat their chicken and rise here in the United States and Canada. I applaud the efforts of the Artist Relief Funds For Haiti. But I would have expected all Haitian artists to participate in this movement. I only see a couple of prominet artist's name in that group. why are not more haitian artirsts supporting that movement or any other relief  efforts for haiti. Just as you say, they don't care. It is kinds of sad, but these guys only think about money. If you ask me, every haitian band that's plying this month and next month should donate all  proceeds to hati. AND THEY PRODUCERS AND PROMOTERS NEED TO DO THE SAME.

You must be new to the Haitian community my friend, see the Haitian artist are not about doing for Haiti there are about taking from Haiti. If you go back in history and count in how many songs the name HAITI has been mentioned, you might be shocked that you might run out of time if that was a timely contest. Just to say it has been mentions thousands and thousands of time, simply it is a catchy name or maybe just maybe a way to catch the public interest. My favorites are: manvi tounen lakay( used over and over) Haiti ala mwen kontan we ou (ahhh brings tears to my eyes when I hear those famous words) Haiti cherie (oh how much we love that one, brings out the fighting patriotism in us doesn’t it? Lol) how can I forget the ever popular : yon ti peyi kap soufri…lol you have to give it to those artists, I mean really applaud their ability to write such powerful words but then again do nothing about what they are saying.

We buy those records why do we? Cause it reminds us of the motherland, we become nostalgic the minute we hear manvi manje yon ti boukousou, manvi bwe yo ti ji korosol(bon bagay) are we wrong for buying the cds? No we are not, we are just gullible for thinking those artists are as patriotic as the next person….NOTTTTTTTTTTT.

The laws of business are very simple profit wherever and whenever you can………

The Haitians artist are not about to make a difference…….

Take the group ARFFH( Artists Relief Fund For Haiti) for instance, most artist listed on that group are either from the towns that were mostly affected by Jeanne or just a few guys who are tired of seen our people going down the drain like animals even animals do not deserve that kind of treatment. Let me ask you this, do you really think if Carimi, T-vice, Konpa Kreyol, Top Vice, Djakout Misic  etc. will participate in what ARFFH is doing for Haiti, do you really think these guys will give a damn to help? Do you really think they will take part of such positive action? Loll I have news for you my friend….it is a BIG NOOOOO…. I can give you a million reason why they will not get involve, but let’s just say it is not a valuable excuse to the eyes of the victims or the general public….$$$$$$$$$$$$ need I say more?

I would  liketo know why Haitian musicians are doign anything to help Haitian flood Victims? Outside of Sweet Micky who flew to haiti several months ago to help the people in mapou and other region Haiti. I have not heard or seen any other Haitian group putting together to help these poor. Do Haitian musicians care about Haiti and the poor? all other commnuity and caribbean musicians are  coming together to help the relief efforts in their countries, except us? Can we get somethign started?  According to reuters, this week  mroe than 300  Hiatian died in the flood.
